December Morning 🎄
Added 2024-12-07 19:17:44 +0000 UTCOur Christmas tree is finally up! It took a bit longer to arrive this year because of all the stormy weather, but it’s always worth the wait. This morning, I woke up to the most breathtaking sight—an aurora dancing over our cabin. I haven’t seen much of the northern lights so far, due to all the snowy, overcast days, so this felt extra special. It’s amazing how the sky can suddenly light up like that and remind you how magical this season really is.
Christoffer has finally made it to our off-grid cabin, so it’s just Grim and me having a quiet, cozy weekend together. We’re fully embracing the slow pace—relaxing and spending plenty of time in front of the open fire. I’m also getting lost in Mistborn: The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson, and I can’t put it down! I’m almost done, and honestly, it’s been such a fantastic read. Perfect for a weekend like this ⭐️

Instead of Christmas decorations as such, we add lots more candles, string lights to vases, Winter foliage, burn warming scents then leave until the Spring 😊. Love this season too and look forward to our visit to Svalbard in February to extend further ❄️☃️

So addicting I can't put it down. We are enjoying the darker days here in Holland. It doens't get light until about 9am and the sun sets around 4:30pm. I love the cozy dark nights too.

I hope you are enjoying your alone time with Grim, reading and relaxing and soaking up the pre-Christmas vibes. Thank you for sharing your holiday decorating photos. I am recently home in Knoxville, TN after spending the second half of November visiting family and friends in Bodega Bay, California. Early during my visit, I experienced several intense days of “atmospheric river” and “bomb cyclone”, meaning unremitting rain and stiff winds. Then Nature relaxed and I was able to enjoy peaceful walks along the beach and in the costal hills. As for Christmas decorating, now that I’m (mostly) recovered from my travels, I plan to get my tree, wreaths, candles and such out of storage tomorrow. I’m looking forward to that! Take care and stay safe and healthy.
