I made $300 in the last 28 days from YouTube. Yeah, you are my only means of surviving.

This is the YouTube revenue I've been getting over the past several months. I am not sure if I ever bounce back from this low point. But it would be impossible to do any of this without your support. You are literally sustaining the existence of this channel. Otherwise, I would have to take a "normal" job and have little time left for making these video essays and investigations.

No words can express how thankful I am to have your support!

Happy to support someone who tries their best to share the truth.

Just popping in to say hi and to say I appreciate what you do for the public (research, informing, etc.). You have sparked an interest in cyber security I never thought I had and for that, thank you.

True

You're very welcome! Glad you saw this comment because I had thought I had posted it in your "youtube front-ends" post, but I guess posted it here. Also, FUTO is fully financed by a billionaire that holds a grude againt big-tech's anti-freedom approach. So if there's going to be a court case, I except them to have the resources to fight it at the very least, unlike regular open source developers. Looking forward to hearing you opinion!

Asterisk3

Interesting. Thanks for the tip. I am going to check this out.

The Hated One

You probably missed this, but there's now a newpipe alternative called GrayJay developed by a non-profit called FUTO, which Louis Rossman works for. https://grayjay.app/. But critically the app's goal is different than NewPipe. The idea is to follow creators, regardless of the platform. So if you subscribe there you can see any videos from platforms they're in (Odysee, Youtube, etc.) but deduplicated. If a video is banned on one, it still shows because it's available on another. Rossmann published a video about it on youtube but it was removed quicly after that and I believe he got a community strike for posting it. It's still on odysee: https://odysee.com/@rossmanngroup:a/the-best-way-to-watch-online-video-my:c

There are ways to access "locked" Patreon content. Donations are just a convenience measure and a way for people to support production. If you don't want to support production and just want to consume the content, feel free to do so. I am planning to do a public podcast once I am confident enough.

The Hated One

I am getting your point and I think you are right. The easiest would be to just to record audio and publish it as podcast. It would also make it easier if I could record myself but I am not gonna do that. I am gonna take your advice and see how I can apply it.

Rand0Mand0

I will say this, though, I'm very disappointed in being locked out of your content for not paying "enough".

Rand0Mand0

Don't get me wrong home slice, I came to donate to, but I'm not going to pay his bills alone, he chose this line of work. If you think he's suffering, you should see my business. Most of the work I do, I do for free because I absolutely hate money and capitalism.

Rand0Mand0

Lol, this guy up here with the labored statement... You do understand he's not the only one suffering. There are so many more and in a lot worse shit than him.

Rand0Mand0

Radical Opinion: THO, the overproduction of your videos though I appreciate it, I think it is just not really that necessary because you are working alone and I think you should rework your production strategy. Do not be pressured by larger channels with production teams out there like Vox or Johnny Harris to create exhausting production videos, we understand your situation working alone. What we need the most is your high quality message and on the presentation we just need the bear minimum clear HD or 1080p or 4k graphics, and stock and evidence photos and videos(Static or non static that doesn't require very detailed animation like zoom in zoom out, movement to z and y axis, simple transitions, etc.) Maybe think of reducing or removing animations in exchange for high quality simple and well designed static graphics, stock or quality evidence photo and videos static(Or non static that is not animated). Also Good thumbnails and title same what your doing today and the past. Look at Mental Outlaw for example, I would say your message quality is better than his but the point is he is not exhausting himself and was able to get his message out. This will give you more time to research, rest, touch grass, and most importantly this can give you time to possibly take some part time(Part time means you can still do this passion of yours) job experience because your gonna get old one day man and you really need at least some job experience or else when you get old it will be harder for you to find on the future(It does not matter if its unskilled or skilled job). I did the same thing and I was still able to do may hobbies. I am concerned about your wellbeing and it does not feel good seeing you suffering from stress. I hope you have a contingency local job or plan to.

Just cancelled Youtube premium. Im supporting you through patreon. 💪

I am thinking of transitioning into audio-only podcast from my current animated video format. Not sure how well that would do though.

The Hated One

Forming a habit forces the quality of research to stagnate. It necessitates that the video format is uniform, which would mean I would have to abandon projects that require a more in-depth investigation and analysis. I don't want to bound the research to those rules.

The Hated One

Thanks, Marko. I really appreciate it! Take care of yourself first and foremost!

The Hated One

There is a definitely a tier list of channel recommendations on YouTube, with Mr Beast type of content getting the most preferential treatment, while channels like mine getting some of the worst.

The Hated One

As a top-tier patron I would KEEP PAYING if your currently patreon-exclusive content would be made public. For other patrons, please like this comment if you agree :)

Asterisk3

Sad to hear. One factor that may be bringing it down is the fact that you don't publish much. If you haven't already, you should look into habit formation. People naturally follow habits. If you publish one video per week people will crave that. Even if it's not a very deep video and just some podcast episode on something that you want to comment. But if you publish infrequently, there's not habit and people may even forget your channel exists. I know your research takes a long time, but you also have a lot of contextual knowledge. If you did mental-outlaw style content maybe every week or two, it could make it show up again in people's feeds. Those videos shouldn't take a lot of time to make, and they are kind of what you already do here in the podcasts, but with images / stock footage slapped on top of it. It's not top quality, but it may keep the public channel going and growing. As a top-tier member, I'd love if the content you posted here were to be made public. My friends who watch your video but cannot afford to be patrons would also appreciate it. But it's a risky move: as you'd be playing with your only source of revenue. Maybe some here would not pay if this didn't have "exclusive" content.

Asterisk3

YouTube tends to demonetize and sabotage creators with more radical content. That is capitalism for you 🤷🏽‍♂️

UltimateTerran

I'm 100% you're just on some YouTube Blacklist or something. Even as a subscriber, I've never noticed YouTube recommending one of your videos on my homepage.

Ryan

I think your videos are brilliant actually. I've learned so much from you and it would be criminal to let your obvious talent disappear into obscurity. I would increase my own subs if my own situation was more stable. Indeed I will do so if the opportunity arises. I know from experience how hard it is to make a living from what you love to do, especially if it's creative. Keep going for as long as you can my friend, and know that there are those of us who value you greatly.

Marko

Everything is down. My normal performance used to be above 500k in views a month. Over the past year and a half, perhaps two years, it's been slowly going downhill. Most of my new uploads used to get 100k views each. Now they barely get 25k views. It could be that my videos are just that boring and uninteresting. It could also be that more than 90% of my subscribers never get notified about or suggested my videos.

The Hated One

Why is your revenue so little?

UltimateTerran

Is it due to being downranked? Or just ads in general being less relevant? (I mainly listen here on patreon)
