I didn't know about this creature until I came up with the creaturetober idea. I asked friends what is their fav mythical creature, and among other someone mention Akhlut.
Akhlut is a creature out of Inuit folklore, a vicious beast preying on hunters who get too close to edge of the water. It's believed that akhluts are shapeshifters, changing from orca to wolf or wolf-like hybrid, so they can hunt in water and on land. I loved the origin story stating that people came out with this myth to explain why there are wolf tracks leading right to the sea and not back ;D.
