The Crafter's Dungeon audiobook

I just hit the "Approve Audiobook" button on ACX last night for The Crafter's Dungeon on audiobook!  It has to go through the quality check first -- which usually takes a few days -- and then there is a 10-14 day waiting period before it's actually for sale, but it is on the way!

I'm very excited for everyone to hear this!

Ah, nice! So one MIGHT happen this month, hoping for it over here. Thank you very much for answering my questions, I'll look forward to the next book in that series and will get it as soon as it releases.

In the new Crafter's Dungeon, she actually did split up her workshops from the rest of the dungeon, as she made the only accessible through certain means. They're technically still connected to everything, but in a roundabout way. And I do have a tentative release schedule, on my post of published works here through November: https://www.patreon.com/posts/28219280

Ha, I wholly admit I'm a complexity and efficiency addict. I blame gaming for that. Planning and mapping out dungeons, even just made up ones can be fun. As for Crafters Dungeon. The other rooms don't really need to be connected to the entrance chain of rooms, no? Heck, leaving them unconnected might actually help with security. They could simply be used for more efficient mana gathering, storage rooms, crafting rooms, living quarters if someone stays with her, while also filling them up with automatons she could draw from if need be as quick and easy reinforcements. And yeah it would cost resources to set up initially but she'd get most of those back from excavating them and then profit from having them around for gathering. Well, I for one am curious what the future holds. I really like some of your series, Especially station core and crafters dungeon and am waiting for the next installment. Do you have a release calendar for planned releases somewhere?

Marauder

That is true, I try to keep my dungeons I create rather linear, rather than too expansive. In the other books, it helps when there is a predefined path for the adventurers or whoever is traveling down them; it reduces the resources needed to construct them, as there won't be any sections that they would pass. As for the Crafter's Dungeon, she might end up doing more of a grid-like pattern as she starts to make more rooms; her VATS is useful for moving things around to a point, but she is eventually going to need something like that. Thank you for the suggestion!

Oh sure. She won't run out of space, but it would be more efficient when having to get around and move things. A hex or tile based dungeon that is. Also, doesn't mana absorption decrease the further she gets away from her core? If so wouldn't going in all directions when expanding be a good idea, rather than a singular one? I'm mostly curious because I think I've read three of your series so far. And they've always built a singular chain of rooms for their "dungeon" part of their dungeons. Same in Station Core for the training dungeons. Rather than a maze/building like setup.

Marauder

It can definitely be more than just a line of rooms, which Sandra actually starts doing in the second book, by dividing it up between her workshops and the defensive trap rooms. In the future she'll be expanding even more -- eventually it won't be just one long spiraling line; though, to feel fair, she doesn't need to worry too much about space, as she has miles of space under the wastelands to develop her dungeon.

Jonathan Brooks

Bought the book and all, just got one question. Why are the dungeons always a single line of connected rooms? Wouldn't for the crafter dungeon something like a hex field or squares make more sense? Better use of the available space, easier to get around, etc. Could still do the exit as regular one line of rooms for better defensibility, no?
