Hiring an Editor Can Ruin Your YouTube Channel

As for YTPs, my favourite R Michael Rosen & Mark Sabine YTPs. Many of the creators I watch, such as Chuck Steak, 256pi & VreyisGrey genuinely enjoy Michael Rosen & I think it shows too.

I don't know enough about Mark Rober to comment on him but, although Mr. Beast's content isn't totally my style, I still watch because his views are actually important. The majority of his money goes to other people, or even to animals. Yeah, his videos are crazy and made specifically to get views, but that's the point. He needs to generate huge amounts of revenue to continue doing what he does, which is helping people who need it. Just check out Beast Philanthropy. And I'm not trying to say your opinion is wrong or you suddenly have to support him! I'm just giving another perspective.

i never had a word to describe what mysteriously kept me a constant viewer of your channel, but i believe that word is authenticity. every video you make is an extension of yourself and everything you stand for, which makes your personality stand out and makes you more human. every video is your baby and handing them off for someone else to develop would change everything

To me personally, watching the first few videos of a youtuber, and getting a feel of the content they produce, having someone else editing the content never bothers me. Because that first impression becomes how I view that youtuber. First impressions are key in general for how I view things, and youtubers are no exception. Because that viewpoint will always be in the back of my mind for how I view that specific thing. I've had this same experience with a youtuber I know, where they gave their videos editing to multiple people. The content they put out was better, but at the cost of their identity on the platform. I stopped watching their content shortly after because of it. The point is, if a content creator had always had their videos edited, or the editing was so minimal that hiring a new editor doesn't really change anything, it doesn't really matter to me. But when someone changes to having an editor do their content, yeah, I do feel a disconnect from the creator, as that first impression isn't there anymore. Lastly, I agree 100% on not enjoying bigger, more "corporate" youtube channels, like MrBeast, Mark Rober, etc. I don't watch ANY of that content because it's just not Youtube to me. I'm always like "this is just a product to be sent out to the masses made clearly to manipulate neural waves in our brains to generate cash." Videos have become instead of passion projects, into products for the masses. And like you said, the creator probably doesn't feel this way at all, but I could never shrug off the sense that, none of this is real, it's all for audience retention, all for views, and all for ad revenue. Every "big" youtuber has become a glorified Tiktok compilation, and that's just not why I enjoy Youtube. Great podcast Peter!

Never apologize for lacking any scientific facts to back up your opinions. If it was revealed to you in a dream, say so and be proud of it

Well, there are also companies, especially video game companies that have other people edit the videos, of course it's professional, but it is still pretty common, like Nintendo Direct. 🤷‍♂️
