I recreated the entire universe in Blender + other updates

Hello, I hope your current geological location is not harmful to you :) I'm back with some more updates and progress pics for this weeks/next weeks video.

As some of you know, I've been working on a new 3D model of my basement. I've been using them for transition animations and goofy little edits. I scan it all using a small lidar scanner to map out each section/desk/shelf/fridge, and put it all together in blender. This is the 4th version I've done now, and I'm pretty happy with it compared to the last few. Much cleaner, while still maintaining some rough edges, but oh well. Adds character. I'll give a brief tour.

We start at the nice 1970s style stairs with a recently added red futon that weighs 2k pounds. It wont stay for long, I'm just storing it until I can get rid of it. I've got 3 futons down there as is, I don't need more.

This next section in named in the project as "electrical desk" and "console desk". This contains the electrical desk and console desk. Previous versions and my goofy lookin' dog in the window, and that is something I may add back in in the future, but just not for this videos version. Moving on.

Next to that, a TV playing my favorite show, Green. I can use this to photoshop some butt on it or something. This segment also might be replaced soon my my arcade machine that I'll be uploading a video on sometime before the new year. No new updates on that though.

Futon 2 with funny pillows.

This here be the cameo shelf and rating board. Not something I've used too much lately, but when I get back into videos covering multiple related topics, I'll be re implementing it. Despite this being a somewhat janky section, it was easily the easiest to ease. The scanner works way better with surfaces of varying texture and geometry. Intense math stuff and all that.

This is couch number 3. Fuzzy stuff.

Just a it of equipment storage with a few cameos. Fun fact, it doesn't have curtains behind it irl. That was a very fun fact indeed.

And my favorite section, the XP desk. Lots of fond memories stacked here. I think the Gateway PC might still work. I opened it yesterday and it look fairly intact, so maybe 2 XP PCs. Aren't I just the coolest?

And lastly, my little work bench. It works.

So I'm pretty happy with this basement version. I've got some more room, and it all looks cleaner. Should be a lot easier to update as I move things around irl from here on out. I'm also just now noticing the floating handheld PC in that desks image. Huh.

Beyond that, I have been hard at work editing the full Vista video. It should be around 26 minutes long, and I'm about 6 minutes done.

While it should be done by Friday or Saturday, when I get to put it out depends on some sponsor related stuff, but that's on a need to know basis, and all you need to know is that you don't need to know.

That's all I got for today. Just imagine me editing for 4 days now, and you'll know exactly what I'm up to. Thanks to everyone on here and howdy to the new folks. Much appreciate, is your presence. Talk soon!

There's still typing errors in your tour guide! You weren't faking it at all!

I cannot juggle 3 items for more than a few seconds

I thought I was the only one who was a fan of green but good to know there are others out there

Jakoby

I definitely wouldn't have the patience to do that.

REALLY loving the scans, they look super fun and cool. i'm also incredibly jealous of your funny marshmallow bunny peep plush, as i've been wanting a big pink one myself

Your dedication to blender is as impressive as it is terrifying. Is there anything Peter can’t do?

Blossom Bjornson

yes, just some microscopic particle effects

Peter Knetter

Did you manage to re-create the Radon in the basement too?

Jomaster the Second

I don't know how any of this works but listening to you talk about things you're interested in makes me happy :)

GmmBeast

I love that some parts of this basement are fun, inviting, and cute. And then other parts looks like it belongs in a scary movie!

Vel Shael

I love the uncanny valleyness of it all. At first glance in the email I thought these were pictures! It all looks great!

Chrysta

I truly do love the transitions in your videos between one part of the basement and another. It's something I'd definitely like to see more of. πŸ‘
