Long time no see, as Super Mario used to say. We are back with another channel behind-the-scene update. It's every week on the dot without exception (fact).
So first off, no upload last week, and once again, no upload this week either for a few reasons.
1: Here is a picture of Blorgus (see image 1)
2: Personal family reunion and life stuff (all good) no issues, but I was gone from home for a bit (no image for this)
3: Tech upgrades. My channel is updating to version 17.067alpha. This includes 2 quality of life updates. I've been loving using more 3D transitions and models for my vids lately, but I've been doing it using an app called Polycam (there are many you can use, but that's the one I have). All it does essentially, is take like 400 pictures of an object or room, and patch it all together into a model. Easy peasy and I didn't need any fancy tech for it, but it often times fails to make the models correctly at all (see image 2). As you can see here, it just sucks at reflective surfaces and dark areas, so I'm upgrading to a liDAR scanner. it's only a couple hundred bucks and can actually detect distance and surfaces instead of just using images. Newer iPhones have them, but I don't have iPhones :( so I had to buy a scanner. It'll make the models way less jank and wont take me hours of redoing scans (took 3 days to make a model of my basement). Big excited for that, but it wont be here until Friday. Even though I already recorded my "Sonic Games in an IBM ThinkPad" video, I want to use some 3D models for editing, so I'm going to wait until I get that.
4: Other tech upgrades (no pic). I've been on a vintage tech high lately and am loving messing around with that stuff, but sometimes with all the troubleshooting and messing around I need to do during those videos, I feel like a lot of the process isn't captured like I want, so instead of getting more cameras and more angles, I have a chest mounted POV cam that I'll integrate along with what I normally do. It'll give some epic angles on me doing the crazy fun stuff like, changing batteries or going to get a drink of water :) I'll have that next week, and start using it soon. Again, I'm much excited. Some of you might recall I have used POV cams before, but that GoPro was a can of dog crap, and the battery only lasted for like 40 mins, and couldn't be swapped out. Often I record for 4 hours or more, so I need more run time. This'll solve that easily.
So those are the reasons for no video lately. We here at Nintendo hope you understand the delays and wish our fondest regrets or whatever.
Next order of business, Upcoming videos. I have some fun things planned, or maybe just I find them fun.
I finally got to fix the screen on my iBook G3. It had eroding glue under the polarizing film (see image 3) {its just an example} I replaced it, and I don't think it looks too bad (see image 4) I do feel kind of bad though because I couldn't be sure if I could fix it in time for the recording week, so I bought another one to be safe (see image 5 and 6). Its nice, but doesn't have the video output I need to record (thanks to the fella on here that told me about that). I'll find something to use it for, or sell it back I don't know. Kind of cringe of me to have bought it, but oh well. I take a loss there. I'm just proud I could fix it. It's not as hard as ppl make it seem. "YouTube in" and "Sonic games In" Mac coming soon.
I also picked up 2 other gadgets for those video formats. First is a Personal Organizer from 1999 that runs Windows (not sure which OS) I thought that was wild, and it has a pop-out keyboard too (see images 7, 8, and 9).
I also bought this nifty thing that I don't have yet (in image 10). Its a tiny PC that runs Vista and I might have a huge crush on it. I will be so excited to make a vid on that when I get it. I may have an addiction to old tech. It's my favorite, maybe second favorite thing about life.
Lastly, in business news, I'm working with a company called Pantasy https://pantasy.com who make some neat block building products (I wont say the "L" word) these guys have an old vintage PC set (see image 11) that I want to turn into a real working computer, so they are willing to work with me to make that happen. Should be wild, and I'll show more soon.
That's all the updates I got for this week. I'm keeping busy and churning stuff out, even if it takes a bit, so thanks for the patience. Also, thanks to yall for being here and welcome to all the new folks who have joined in. I appreciate everything so much. It's because of you guys that I can foolishly buy 2 iBooks and not go into bankruptcy. Adios, as Mario used to say.
