As I've mentioned here before, the next Sublo and Tangy Mustard episode is about the Subpar gang driving out to the suburbs to do catering at a dreary office park. Most of the backgrounds aren't particularly exciting to look at (lots of office hallways, desks and tables) so I've been reluctant to share them... But I'm finishing up the last few at the moment, and it's been a while since I shared any glimpses of upcoming stuff. I've animated a bit too but again nothing very exciting on its own. Mostly just talking head shots.
I had unintentionally put off some of these backgrounds for a while. Part of it is I get busy with other work, but sometimes I get too in my head about making the show. Maybe it's worrying about quality or imposter syndrome or something. Anyway when I finally get over it, it's always a relief to see that if I trust the process and do the work, inevitably what comes out is Sublo and Tangy Mustard. The show is the natural by-product of following an established workflow. Obviously I do have the big picture in mind during pre-production, while I'm writing and boarding-- but when I have a hundred shots to animate or forty backgrounds to draw, I have to switch off that part of my brain and zoom in on the task at hand. I don't know if this rambling makes sense, but anyway work is moving fast and I'm feeling good about it! Here are some backgrounds and a couple of bonus sketchbook pages from the other day.
