Sublo Shopping - more WIP stills and update

This little Christmas episode is almost finished. I've only got 4 shots left to animate and they're all fairly simple. Hopefully by this time tomorrow they'll all be complete! I still haven't imported the backgrounds, but here are a few more animation frames for you patrons. I'm still on track to release it near the end of this week, ideally the 19th or 20th. It's been a grueling (but also very fun) couple of weeks since I started this rush job but I'm glad I'm doing it, if only so I can say technically there was a Sublo and Tangy Mustard episode released in 2024. I think there are fun character moments in it, it's a good little showcase of their friendship. And a holiday-themed episode is always a bit of a novelty. Along with animation I've been pumping out some crappy Christmas music you'll hear in the background. Since the episode mostly takes place in a mall, there's a lot of diagetic music like the Nightclub episode, which allows me to play with pastiches of specific genres more than a typical episode's score might demand.

The episode is definitely an 'album track' rather than a single, in my music-brained way of looking at the show, but as such I think it contributes to making the season richer. And hopefully it's a fun little present for everybody who's been waiting so long for the next episode! BTW reminder that current $5+ patrons get their name in the credits!

Anyway back to work for now.

Totally get the logic behind the programming schedule, but as a non music person it's really interesting to me to see someone relate this concept with album formatting

I've probably talked about it before somewhere - I was actually chatting about this with a friend just now too. Basically I have a vision of all the stuff I want the show to be, and I try to distribute it through the season strategically, as you might assemble an album for balance and texture and drama. You avoid programming a bunch of the same type of song in a row. Certain episodes are tentpoles that stand on their own more easily while others only really make sense as part of the whole, but I think those secondary ones are still useful for adding colour and variety. I wouldn't want every episode to be purely Subpar shenanigans, or Katy having a personal crisis, Tito degeneracy etc but in my mind they're all important facets of the show. And hopefully it ends up being more than the sum of its parts. Anyway sorry for rambling, it's hard talking about the show! It's all just swirling around in my head.

That last bit is interesting how you think of the show as an album kind of
