jk, Zara isn’t actually a vampire >:3

Zara is a character I’ve had in the works for a while, but last night I watched The Witches (1990) with Anjelica Huston and holy shit my brain went that is IT, that’s the vibe for the character right there

Zara is an imposing and commanding woman with a fascination for all things occult and deathly. Like many scavenger animals, she believes that death and life are two parts of the same whole, that people would do best to detach their own ego from the process. People are born, they die, their bodies decay, and their matter is slowly transformed into something new, as their own bodies came to be formed from the carbon within ancient stars. Life and death, rot and rebirth, locked in an ancient and glorious cycle. Zara can wax poetic about this for hours. She has an entire room dedicated to her collection of expensive antique skulls, as well as her cellar of expensive red wine. Does she drink wine out of these skulls? Zara couldn’t be reached for further comment.

Despite her cold and morbid exterior, Zara is not at all unkind, and maintains a distinct sense of humor. Children find her absolutely terrifying.

Tim is (was) of course, Savannah’s father, a timid and soft-spoken young man with a love for flowers. Zara is Savannah’s biological mother. To borrow a joke from Futurama, Zara scoffs at the idea that people would call her a cradle-robber. If anything, Tim is robbing the grave!
