"Action Button Reviews 'Action Button Pictures Presents "LOS ANGELES NOIRE'"

Hello! We have a new bonus feature for you. This is the most substantial bonus feature we've ever made. It consists of a four-hour moderated discussion about the production of 'Action Button Pictures Presents "LOS ANGELES NOIRE"'. I'm really pleased with how it turned out. I don't want to hype it up too much, nor do I want to tip my hand about the upcoming videos, though at some point in the future you may in hindsight consider this discussion almost as important as the review itself.

ACTION BUTTON PICTURES PRESENTS "LOS ANGELES NOIRE"

Hello everyone. I premiered the new Action Button Video on YouTube. It's running now. It just sort of happened--sorry for no advance notice. It's just, if I didn't get this thing out I didn't know when it was going to happen. I had been sitting on it for a little too long waiting for The Right Time, which as many of us know, almost never exists.

My advice for you right now is to not watch it while it's p...

New Podcast Pilot Episode: Action Button One-On-One with Tim Rogers (and Guest Ben Starr)

Hello! Remember when I said, towards the end of my last Patreon update, that I'd "recorded a lot of podcast episodes the past two years"? Well, here's one of them. Action Button One-On-One Episode Zero, featuring Final Fantasy XVI's own Ben Starr, the (canonical!) voice of protagonist Clive Rosfield.

It's here where I reveal that the "I" in this post is, in fac...

Action Button Update 08/30/2024

Hello! I thought I'd provide everyone an update on the status of Action Button video productions.

For those unwilling to read the fullness of this post, consider this paragraph the short version: work continues, full-time. I have not spent a weekday NOT working on these videos since my last post. Yes, I know that was almost two years ago. I am Getting Old so Almost Two Years goes by like that. Well, I work daily on six separate productions, which seeing as I do multiple jobs on...

Action Button Bokunatsu Fukubukuro: Complete

I have posted the bonus content pertaining to "action button reviews boku no natsuyasumi" on Action Button Channel Two. You can find many (many) hours of content of mysterious provenance over in the "Fukubukuro" playlist, and kind of a full triple-A-video-game's-worth of more focused stuff 2022-10-28 17:50:24 +0000 UTC View Post

action button reviews boku no natsuyasumi

Immediately after publishing this post, I will set Action Button Season Two Episode One: Action Button Reviews Boku no Natsuyasumi to "public" on YouTube.com/ActionButton.

It took a long time to get this one to you! I'm sorry it took so long. Hopefully if you watch the video you will understand exactly why I had to sit on this video until summer ended. On the one hand, you'd figure one'd suffer bad luck to talk too muc...

Season Two COMING QUITE SOON (Plus, a Big Bonus Feature)

Hello my friends! It's been a while! Work continues on the next six videos in this series (collectively, "Action Button Season Two"). And it excites me to announce that the next video--Action Button Season Two Episode One--nears the final stages of editing.

THE SHORT VERSION

All Day Every Day, I work on the videos. You will see the next one soon. Also, I uploaded an enormous bonus feature pertaining to Season Two as a whole onto Action Button Channel Two. View Post

Action Button Season One Has Ended. Let's Get Ready For Action Button Season Two! (or, a word on "de-branding")

Hello! A little over a month has passed since Action Button Season One ended. I now feel comfortable talking about Action Button Season Two.

THE CHANGING MISSION

Action Button Season Two will feature a remarkably different style than Action Button Season One. In summary, the videos will each aspire more to the categorization of "film" than the previous season's.

Yes, inflated by you-all's support, I have decided to try to at some point in the near future think of myself as...

ACTION BUTTON REVIEWS Cyberpunk 2077 premieres TOMORROW 10/26/2021

I was about to announce this on Twitter when I realized I needed to announce it here first--out of dedication to my earlier proclamation that this blog page here serves The Real Stuff, and also for consistency's sake: ACTION BUTTON REVIEWS Cyberpunk 2077 is finished. It is exported. It is uploaded. It is processed. It will premiere (in a tricky capacity I cannot at this moment divulge because I dare not spoil you) tomorrow, 26 October 2021, at 6pm Eastern.

Yes, 6pm Eastern--I dare not a...

ACTION BUTTON REVIEWS CYBERPUNK 2077 is still processing

EDIT: NOOOOOOOOO I accidentally published this with the title I wrote yesterday, which is that it is "now uploading". It had finished uploading and began processing WHILE I was writing this post. I completely rewrote the post and then neglected to change the title. Ah, man. If in your email inbox it says the video is "uploading", that is wildly wrong. It is processing. Ah, man, what a debacle

Action Button Reviews CYBERPUNK 2077 is exporting

The video is exporting. The audio is another matter, though like I always say about Other Matters, we worry about that later. If I proceeded from here to bore you with details about the exact shape of the othermatterly audio issues I might for a blinking moment appear to beg help. I am not begging help. Not here, anyway. For the moment, let's declare that everything happening falls heavily into the Under My Control category, while maybe even ignoring that sometimes "My Control" involves askin...

"Action Button Reviews Cyberpunk 2077" enters the final stages of post-production!

Short version: no more roadblocks (creativity requirements, etc) on the video editing work. Hoping to launch the video early August. Reason for delay: this one's huge (by multiple standards), and also I've been coordinating Season Two. Big Stuff in the works. New Hire coming on for next project. A few vague words on the important tonal and mission-statemental shift coming in Season Two. An understated confirmation that the next video will be exactly one hour in length and take less than one m...

CYBERPUNK 2077 Review Script 75% Finished!

Hello! And welcome back to my Patreon page. It's me, Tim Rogers. I'm posting to let you know that I have, as of a few minutes ago, finished writing the three most substantial, difficult segments of my upcoming review of CYBERPUNK 2077.

As you perhaps know from my mentioning it too many times in the past, writing the script signifies the Home Stretch of the Action Button Reviews process. The bulk of the work behind one of my reviews occurs during the "Play The Game While Having Thoughts"...

ACTION BUTTON REVIEWS TOKIMEKI MEMORIAL

Well, ACTION BUTTON REVIEWS Tokimeki Memorial will be live at 1:08pm Eastern on YouTube Dot Com Slash Action Button. I figure this timestamp is fitting for the New Year's Day launch of a video about a video game that takes place in Japan, in which New Year's Day figures as a pivotal moment in each of the story's three in-game years. (Temple bells ring 108 times on New Year's Day, for those unfamiliar with the reference he...

Now (Finally) Exporting ACTION BUTTON REVIEWS TOKIMEKI MEMORIAL

Well, ACTION BUTTON REVIEWS TOKIMEKI MEMORIAL (1994) is exporting.

I have waited too long a time to type that sentence. I originally finished my final-final editing pass over two weeks ago. (Of course, there was a third "final" editing pass, par for the course being what it is in the editing trade, though we needn't count that one for this specific argument's sake.) No matter how much of my life I let this particular trade eat up, it always manages to surprise me with the bottom-heft of...

ACTION BUTTON REVIEWS PAC-MAN

I did it! I reviewed PAC-MAN. It will premiere here at 4pm Eastern Time today.

The review, as per usual, consists of an introduction, six stories, and an epilogue.

Like the DOOM review before it, this PAC-MAN review firmly occupies the category I expect we'll all later look back on as "The Weird Ones." I researched and composed it largely under unsatisfactory working conditions--doing most of my PAC-MAN playing o...

Editing Has Finished On Action Button Reviews PAC-MAN!

Hello! I have finished editing Action Button Reviews PAC-MAN. The runtime is . . . well, it's in six separate sequences that need to be stitched together before exporting, so I don't know the exact length. I think it's a tiny bit under three hours, this time--sorry!--though purists can rest assured that the epilogue will push it over the line.

As you can tell from the cover, this one presents a slightly narrower range in its selection of stories, howev...

BONUS: DOOM review outtakes

As you watch Action Button Reviews, you may find yourself occasionally wondering, "Does anyone have any FUN making these?" "Is his voice always like that?" or even "He probably reads these scripts flawlessly in one sitting lasting the exact length of the video's final running time, right?" One question you will NOT find the answer to, howe...

Well, the review is finished, exported, uploaded, processed, and scheduled! Please go to our YouTube channel at 11am Eastern on Sunday to watch the premiere live.

The video will of course be available to watch in full after the premiere.

We had a grueling situation wherein YouTube kept flagging and blocking the video for including a royalty-free recording of a particular Beethoven song. I changed the song several times--the same bold robot claimed to own the track every time. I wa...

The DOOM Review Video Is *FINISHED*!!

I just finished editing the DOOM review video. Wow--three hours and several minutes of blood-packed HUGE guts. I am not sure if I've ever made anything as complicated as this video. You will soon see its labyrinthine ridiculousness. I tried to accomplish some sort of a trick with it, and I think I might have done it. You will of course be the judge.

It may please you to know that I now have a desk and an internet connection and my office chair and my ...

The DOOM Review: editing is underway!!

HELLO.

The (four(?)-hour, six-part) Action Button Review of DOOM (1993) is currently being edited!

Those who know me know, first of all, that "editing" by far accounts for the *least* amount of time I spend on any given video. Those who know me know that the vast majority of a video's production time happens in the preproduction, research, game-capturing, footage-wrangling, and scriptwriting phases. So suffice it to say: the DOOM video shall arrive quite shortly. Maybe in two week...

Hello. My review of THE LAST OF US (Part One) is complete and will premiere at 230pm Eastern today on YouTube Dot Com Slash Action Button! It will be available on demand on YouTube shortly afterward. A Tiny Delay!

Hello!! Well, I banked real hard on having this video exported and uploaded and processed and set to "live" at 11:59pm Pacific Time today as a wonderful (and hilarious) joke about the definition of "Monday," though I've absolutely hit a wall of sleep-needfulness :-(

I'm sorry. I'm going to have to post the video tomorrow instead. All that remains is a final pass on the audio (which is much, much, much better than the audio was last time).

Let's think of it this way: if I ...

Action Button Reviews THE LAST OF US: Monday, June 15th!

Editing is currently underway for the Action Button Review of THE LAST OF US, with a running time of Two Hours, Two Minutes, and 37 Seconds. I had a lot of "fun" with this one--applying The Action Button Method produced some excellently fruitful data. THE LAST OF US and THE FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE are two excellent games to ultra-granularly compare, it turns out.

As with the Action Button Review of THE FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE, Josh Watson is helping edit this video. You will also find...

The Final Fantasy VII Remake Review

I'm sorry, everyone . . . I finished the video.

It's three hours, eighteen minutes, and 43 seconds long--though admittedly the last ten minutes of that is the on-camera special thanks and epilogue segment. So let's say it's three hours and eight minutes long.

As a large video, it's taking its time getting onto YouTube. It's been uploading on my slow internet for about an hour, and it looks like it has two hours left.

Wow! I have finished editing my video review of The Final Fantasy Seven Remake. It is about three hours and five minutes long. I won't know the exact running time until I slap all the sequences together in Premiere. Though wow: it's done and it is wild.

I will spend tomorrow and Saturday finalizing the audio and making sure I didn't put any typos in the on-screen text. I will export and upload on Sunday. I will launch the video Monday.

Hello, and Welcome Back to Video Games. I'm Tim Rogers. You are reading a post on the Action Button Patreon page.

First of all, thank you for backing my Patreon.

I have to admit: I have been scared to look at this page. I didn't expect the number after the dollar sign to climb at all, much less to the extent it has reached. I expected my first month's patrons to fall into the category of "early adopter." After all, my Patreon page description purposely excludes a HUGE amount of in...
