Brilliant, My Boy!

"I always knew our oversized heads housed oversized brains!"

I got the job, guys. :) I was actually hired on the spot at my first interview, signed my contract the same day. Finally, a career in the field I actually got my degree in! Very grateful! Very nervous! Very excited!

I've found myself in a pony-ish mood lately, so I'll probably be throwing out some pandoraverse/MLP drawings. This here was an editing exercise/me wanting to know what Montezuma would look like in the official show style. As we've explored before, Montezuma and Ahuizotl very much got off on the wrong foot. After all, Montezuma had been told all his life that Daring Do and Cabelleron took him in after the fiendish beast Ahuizotl abandoned him. When Monty grew sick of life under his adoptive parents and being toured around like a cryptid to be observed, he snapped, ran away from home, and travelled to Southern Equestria with no goal except for one- to kill the monster that abandoned him. So things are kinda awkward when Ahuizotl reveals that Monty was lied to....that apparently, they both were lied to.

Ahuizotl feels grief and guilt and rage at the ponies that manipulated him into giving his only son away, but all those feelings take a back seat to the joy at having his son back. They've got so much to catch up on! Two decades of father-son bonding! Why, he'll have to start now if he wants to get a head-start on learning to cook Monty's favorite meals, teaching him their native language, introducing him to the ponies that reside in the temples, showing his son their way of life!

Montezuma doesn't give a flying fart about any of this. With his world recently turned upside down, he's determined to rage and lash out at whoever he can, or at least sulk in his corner of the temple. Buuuuut Papa Ahui is persistent. And the elaborate feasts he cooks aren't halfway bad. And yeah, maybe Monty is a little curious about learning to play card games with the temple ponies. Beats sitting around sulking. Maybe he's a little surprised at how quick he's picking up the language. Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to let Ahuizotl train him to fight and scheme properly, he'll need it if he wants to succeed in his plan to rob Equestria blind....but maybe cold-blooded vengeance can wait a little while longer. Ahuizotl is fatherly and playful and much more open with sincere praise than Daring and Cabelleron ever were, and he doesn't even seem to want anything in return for it. Monteuma doesn't know what to do with this at all. But maybe....maybe he wouldn't mind sticking around the enormous oaf. For just a little bit longer.

tldr:

Montezuma: You vile, despicable temple beast. You're no father of mine. You disgust me. You abandoned me. What could a monster like you ever hope to offer someone like me?

Ahuizotl: .....A hug? :(

Montezuma, tearing up: You son of a bitch. I'm in
