I asked y'all what species you thought I should use for my planned conspiracy theorist character and "aye-aye" (Daubentonia madagascariensis) really seemed to be the popular choice! I dig it, those long spindly fingers and huge eyes are a perfect fit.
Meet Mimi. Disheveled appearance and frumpy mom-clothes aside, Mimi is younger than you think. She's currently a Ph.D student of primatology at Critter City Zooniversity. She also works there part-time as a librarian. Mimi is utterly brilliant, passionate, and extremely eccentric. Convinced that the world around her holds secrets beyond imagination, Mimi spends much of her free time munching handfuls of toasted grubs, obsessively pouring over curious, long-discarded scientific theories. She can't help it. Where did everyone come from? How did everyone, no matter how different, seem to evolve sapience around the same time? Why did some animals develop intelligence and culture, while some species, like bugs and fish, remain inert and feral? Their world seems quite silly and inconsistent when you really think about it. There's got to be something greater at play here.....
Mimi hosts a podcast that she uses to chatter endlessly about her bizarre findings and hypotheses. She is a distant cousin of Penny's, and much like her cousin, has pretty much zero sense of personal space or social filter. Mimi Aiyai says what she means, does what she wants, and does not care about the fools that laugh at her or whisper behind her back. Someday the whole world will see her theories as scientific fact, and then we'll see who's crazy, Bruce! >:D
