Oddball Voice Test

Twilight is not immortal, while she’ll live longer than the average pony, she will indeed die someday. Pandora is also not immortal, just long-lived- her natural lifespan being a couple centuries, like a dragon- though with luck and magic, Pan could hope to live a thousand years or more. Pandora has always been anxious about the idea of outliving Cupcake, but these fears skyrocket way in the future, when Twilight finally passes away. It's a tremendous loss for the family, for all of Ponyville. The spark is gone from Discord's eye for a long time, he grows completely despondent and lethargic. Pan is gutted by the loss of her mother, she begins suffering panic attacks and nightmares. When she asks Discord why, with his nearly infinite power, he didn't extend Mom's lifespan, she's horrified by his mumbled answer, "She didn't want that, Panny." Pan is hurt and angry that Discord didn't disobey and make Mom live forever. She will NOT lose Cupcake the same way. She won't sit around and let her best friend, her wife, the mother of her child- slip through her fingers and turn to dust. Pan starts experimenting with magic. Dark magic, ancient magic, illegal magic. There is no spell she won't try in her quest for immortality. Finally, she gets the idea to simply turn Cupcake into a draconequus like her, so they'll be together for millennia. Buuuut Cupcake refuses this plan. Cupcake argues that life and death are simply the way of the world, and besides, she doesn't want to be forced to outlive PB and Jam and their children, and the rest of their family and friends. Pandora, nearly out of her mind with grief for her mother, and terror of death, cannot accept Cupcake's answer. She darkly threatens to FORCE the transformation on Cupcake. Cupcake is not cowed, and says she still remembers her military training- and that she won't have anything forced on her without a fight. It's mostly a bluff, Cupcake doesn't want to actually fight her wife, and she knows Pan doesn't either. She's shocked when Pan steps forward, eyes glowing, and coldly says "....So be it." Before Cupcake can do anything, Oddball appears and steps in between his mothers, shielding Cupcake from Pan. He's heard enough. He will not allow Pandora to subject his mother to this. If Pan is going to fight anyone, she will have to fight HIM. For a few, terrible moments, Pandora considers it. She snarls at Odd, but he won't budge. She invokes a storm of fiery chaos magic, utterly destroying their kitchen, but Odd is not intimidated. She begins to curse and cry and SCREAM. Why won't they let her do this? Why is Cupcake so determined to leave her behind someday? Cupcake steps out from behind Odd, and firmly tells Pan that making her a draconequus will only delay the inevitable- and that it will never achieve what Pan is truly after- bringing Twilight back. Pandora's magic erupts into a churning storm of RAGE- before abruptly dissipating into nothing. All there is now is a kitchen filled with broken dishes, and Pandora sobbing on the tile floor, no longer able to stave off her grief. Her mother is gone. Pan can't hold in the pain any longer. She feels Cupcake and Oddball curl up alongside her, and even though she mutters apologies and begs their forgiveness, Cupcake shushes her and says it's okay to cry, it's okay to mourn. So Pan does. The little family holds each other, and they mourn together. Later, much later, Pan and Cupcake have a discussion. Although Pan isn't happy with Cupcake's decision to live a mortal pony's lifespan, if it is truly what Cupcake wants, then she can't oppose it. Cupcake says that death is not to be feared, and that so long as Pan remembers someone, they're never truly gone. Pan scoffs at the cheesy sentiment.....then says she supposes Cupcake will never truly be gone to her, because her spirit lives on in their infuriatingly loyal goody-two-hooves idiot son. Cupcake agrees, and they share a tired laugh. Cupcake says the important thing is to treasure one another while they're still alive, and Cupcake very much isn't dead yet. Besides, they've still got their "goody-two-hooves" son to meet for dinner, so Pan should quit worrying already and just enjoy life. Pan is not yet capable of releasing her worries, but dinner with Oddy does sound nice. Cupcake proposes that later they go bring flowers to Twilight's grave, and Pan pulls her into an appreciative hug. Even if she's still hurting and afraid, she is very much capable of treasuring her wife still. Til death do them part~

Unrelated question. Discord and Pandora are immortal right? Is twilight? Will pan find a way to keep cupcake alive longer through magic or will she eventually have to come to terms with cupcake dying?

Odd is closer in personality to Cupcake than Pandora. He's very straight-laced and considerate and doesn't get why anyone would want to cause trouble on purpose, much less the mass mayhem that Pan and Discord do just for funsies. That's not to say Odd isn't entirely without a mischievous streak. He'll sometimes stalk and pounce on Finn for no reason beyond his own amusement, and he isn't above using magic on someone that deserves it (eg. a pony rudely snapping at his mother Cupcake over an order mix-up may suddenly have their mane catch fire).

Lopoddity

Does Oddball have ANY of the mischievous streak Pandora has? Or has this apple been launched light years away from the tree?

*faints* Lop, you've just made Oddball my new favorite character. How did you know that Brain Gremlin is my favorite villain? :D I can already imagine Oddball taking notes on Midnight Abyss' laboratory experiments, and telling her, "I wanna talk a little bit about what's going on in this room, because I think there are some fascinating ramifications here for the future!"
