Beauty, Ain't He (WIP)

I'm glad your siblings are there for you! A few people have commented on the topic of Daring and Doc having bio kids, and I don't think they'd have any. They're both extremely career-focused and very impatient. I can't see Cabelleron making the conscious choice to sire some snot-nosed distraction from his schemes, and we've seen that Daring much prefers to be alone and unbothered- she doesn't even seem particularly patient or kind to her youngest fans. Nope, the couple never planned on having kids. Monty was VERY much an exception, Daring wanted to "rescue" him (really just use him as a prop to boost up her sinking popularity), while Cabelleron wanted to show Monty to the world (ie. sell tickets for ponies to come gawk at a magical marvel). Had Monty been an ordinary pony foal, Daring and Cabelleron wouldn't have looked twice at him. Here's an idea I've been batting around tho. I'm thinking maybe Daring Do is related to Mane Allgood, possibly her sister. This would make Monty cousins with Scootaloo. He probably only met her once, when he was still very small- but when he begins his mission to retrieve and home stolen relics all over the world, he's surprised to receive a letter from CMC Founder/Foals With Disabilities Advocate, Scootaloo, asking to meet. Turns out Scoot's been doing some digging into her parents (and Daring Do's) pasts, and she's learned of their complete lack of ethics when it comes to their so called "careers". She's sympathetic to Monty's cause, and furthermore, they bond instantly over the whole "holy cow our parents all SUCK" thing. So maybe Monte ends up with Scootaloo as a sort of surrogate older sister. He finds her deeply comforting to talk to, and her actions and attitude do a lot to restore some of his faith in ponykind. He's got nothing but respect for Scoot.

Do Daring Do and Caballeron ever end up having their own children? I'm curious because I often find comfort in talking to my sisters and brothers. If I were in Monty's position I would not be able to suffer so much and turn out the way he did if I didn't have support. He's so responsible and caring, despite the history of his upbringing. Growing up, did he ever have the chance to make a friend that could comfort him?

Oh God same with the mixed race hair fascination. Everyone always wanted to brush it, but it’s thick, so they’d end up yanking my hair. But as a kid I was raised, “Don’t back talk adults and don’t say no they only want brush your hair.”

I’m very sorry that happened to you. It’s awful when parents don’t have your back. :( I based this scene on similar incidents that happened to me growing up, with adults being creepily fascinated by me being a mixed race child. I’ve had my (afro textured) hair grabbed and petted by total strangers, had my skin color commented on, had one of my dad’s friends smile and call me a “mutt”, which I’m sure she meant in a cute way but I am a human being??? Don’t compare a child to a dog?? Like, I’m not saying it’s a bad thing to be curious about races you rarely encounter, but lots of adults feel entitled to treat children like animals to observe and comment on, not autonomous beings with feelings. To the Allgoods, Monty’s feelings/autonomy is just sort of a cute concept, they really view him as a neat specimen to observe that just happens to talk. They wanted to extensively document him and then publish their findings for fame and profit, but Monty ran away before they could progress far with their research. It’s really such a shame, they’d already settled on a species name for him- Allgood’s Cryptosphinx.

I could see that as being pretty in character for them, but they don’t seem to care about raising the one child they already have, preferring to ditch her with other adults so they can keep up their explorer lifestyle. I don’t think they’d permanently bring another kid into their lives.

I kinda wonder, you don't think this particular visit to Monty would try to convince the Allgoods to "adopt" a non-pony creature of their own to raise too, do you? Cause I could see like this experience getting to see Monty up close. The Doc gets to do this every day, they think "how cool is that? If only we could do something like that to get to observe it more and get to see what it'd be capable of....wait a minute-"

fuckkk tw ..... but this reminds me of when my mom tried to get me to dance with a family member that was harassing me (in her defense she didn't know). Having your autonomy so infringed upon and having the people you trust encourage it is such a humiliating, scary experience. This is worse because Monty's parents are fully aware of what's happening to him. Poor Monty.

Well Cabelleron, in his ‘natural environment’, Monty wouldn’t be getting poked and prodded by nosy explorers. In fact, in his natural habitat, Monty would probably have these two for lunch.

Daring Do is the parent that missteps horribly making "accommodations" for her child's needs, while Cabelleron is like a youtuber parent that destroys his son's privacy for money (make no mistake tho, while Daring was more passive about letting Monty be exploited, she never opposed it, and she sometimes used Monty to hype her newest book.)
