missus cake is nosy as shit but it's mostly out of genuine fondness for both pb and midnight. she and her husband care for both of them as they do for their own children, and missus cake has been discreetly (read: not discreetly at all) nudging them toward each other since day one. She will NEVER stop being smug that these two crazy kids actually ended up dating. Carrot owes her twenty bucks~
i'm leaving it up to y'all to determine if pb loaned midnight his sweater or she straight up pilfered it, both options are equally likely. know that midnight is probably never giving it back, cuz it cozy and smells like doofy boyfren

I can see her saying she stole it, when in reality pb just 'forgot' to put it on after some neckin' in the closet. Can't leave behind any evidence, and hey it is pretty chilly today.

2020-09-28 02:31:44 +0000 UTCThe Cakes can't help semi-adopting all their employees, they are ponies with a lot of love (and nosiness) to go around. Midnight got the job because the Cakes needed help. They're getting older, and it's getting more difficult to run the bakery now that Pound and Pumpkin have moved out to pursue their own interests, and of course Pinkie left years ago to open her own party supply/joke shop emporium with Cheese. Midnight had a stellar reference (Sugar Belle, who she apprenticed under), and PB vouched for her, even though at the time he and her weren't even friends. Midnight is a talented baker, aided in no small part by her magic (recall Starlight using magic to bake an assemble a triple layer cake in seconds, with no oven). Even with her sour attitude, the Cakes would've been fools not to take someone willing to work for their admittedly meager pay. Despite her (horrendous) customer service, Midnight performs her job dutifully and neatly, and has proved to be quite helpful around the bakery. Watching her develop a slow awkward friendship, then eventual romantic interest with their beloved employee PB has greatly helped humanize Midnight to the Cakes, and they've ended up very fond of her, the way you grow fond of a prickly feral cat that steals from your trash bins.

Midnight, despite her birthname (Morning Glory), actually feels more aligned with the dark forces of Luna's night, and sometimes applies little symbols and sticker gems to reflect this (crescent moon, star, etc)

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that Mrs. Cake is rooting for Midnight to find someone, seeing as she felt fit to hire her. Actually I can't recall, how did Midnight get this job? I was under the impression the whole town didn't trust her because of her more frigid attitude. (And that thing with the walking corpses).
