Midnight's whole relationship with PB started off as 100% experimental, so when Peebs teasingly asked what cutesy boyfriend pet name she'd bestow upon him, Midnight answered "....guinea pig". Over time, the pet name gets used with less dry sarcasm and with slowly increasing sincerity (but only in private, Midnight would probably quietly hex the first pony to catch her acting cute with that accursed Sandwich boy)
Edgar is rightly loved by his "parents" and both Midnight and PB make him miniature "pies", "cakes", and other treats (all made entirely out of hay, fruits, and vegetables)

Gib me heart-to-heart girl talk between these two and Midnight realizing that she WANTS this sweet mare as her friend (perhaps the first time she was the one to initiate a friendship. Chakra just kind of fell into place when they were young and Peebs started out as just an experiment, but I think this is the first time Midnight actually gets to know someone and decides to make that first step herself and admit that she WANTS a friendship. Growth) Midnight would totally low-key hate Maggie and probably throw some harmless but HIGHLY annoying hexes her way when she's been a bit of a bitch to Peachy. James loves them both sooooo much and adores movie nights being snuggled up with his bestie and girlfriend

2020-08-26 02:45:37 +0000 UTCYESSSSsss I am BLESSED today. Also, you just reminded me that PB and Peachy are supposed to be best friends, ha. I guess that slipped my mind for like.....four years. Went back and reread my old notes on em, and it says Peachy has a teeny crush on PB hes oblivious to. Idk how canon that is now, but I had a thought. Peachy strikes me as the type to bottle up her feelings, especially if she had the slightest inkling PB might not feel the same, and things could get awkward between them. She doesn't wanna throw away her closest friendship! So she sits on her feelings for a long time......and then Midnight enters the picture. Of all the ponies in Ponyville, PB picks HER. Short, dark, and gruesome. Peachy has no idea what Peebs sees in this gloomy gal.....but whatever, put on a kind face for PB's sake! She's gonna.....SMILE and HUG and do EVERYTHING possible to make this lil witch feel comfortable, and she's gonna shove down any pesky feelings of sadness or jealousy, because she's going to be happy for James, like a best friend should be. Midnight, meanwhile, is indeed an introvert with not-great social skills, but even she can sense something.....off about this beaming pink mare. Something darker lurking beneath the surface. And it is a testament to how much Midnight has learned about love that she can see the wistful look in Peachy's eyes when James laugh and correctly guess at what it is. She bluntly asks Peachy about it, and Peachy at first denies everything with a too-loud giggle. Midnight ends up telling Peachy she should tell PB how she feels. He’d appreciate it, and surely they’re a more compatible couple than he and Midnight herself (just gonna ignore that odd tugging in her chest as she says that). Peachy declines, saying she’d never want to burden her best friend with that choice, and besides, *rueful smile* clearly James is crazy about you, sugar. Midnight concludes that love seems to be a very nonsensical emotion. In avoiding causing PB pain, Peachy is causing herself pain. Midnight doesn’t like it. She’d never insult Peachy by pitying her, but she feels…..something? Protectiveness, perhaps? Midnight will later surprise Peachy with a bouquet of wildflowers (which may or may not have been stolen from Magnolia’s garden), and says PB is lucky to have a friend like her…..if Peachy would like, Midnight wants to be the same for her.

I swear Peebs gets cuter every time you draw him and Midnight is my precious goth witch asexual princess I stan this bitch so hard you don't even know. And I've recently realized that by being with James, our ultra introverted socially awkward loner will eventually meet ultra extroverted in-yer-face megawat grinning LOUD miss Peachy who is gonna be tripping over herself trying to make Peeby-Weeby's lil girlfren feel welcomed and like kin and it's just gonna be like... I can't ever get mine into those fancy there braids like that though. *laughs* My cousin ole Maggie always says-ya ever meet her, pumpkin?
