Defining Love

Basically Midnight Abyss, being a greyromantic asexual, becomes curious over the elusive concept called "love". What is romantic love? What does it feel like? How does it differ from platonic and familial love? Why does it make ponies so dopey? Apparently love is incredibly powerful.......so Midnight sets out to unlock the mysteries of love, synthesize it, and harness its wicked power for herself.
However she does need a romantic partner, for research purposes. She picks her co-worker, PB Sandwich. PB is made 100% aware of Midnight's intentions and agrees anyway, because what's so wrong with wanting to understand love?
what happens is a wild ride whereupon PB goes from witless guinea pig to pretty much Midnight's favorite person (save for Bertram of course), and the development of a relationship that straddles the line between platonic and romantic (the label ‘queerplatonic’ may apply, though I’m honestly not sure), full of feelings Midnight still doesn't know how to define, but that's okay, because if her research (and PB smoochies) has taught her anything, it's that there is no single correct way to love someone.

I’ve read up on it, and some claim that queerplatonic means absolutely NO romantic feelings are involved, while other sources say it can be an ambiguous blend of platonic and romantic feelings. As their relationship progresses, PB is definitely in love with Midnight, while Midnight isn’t sure if she loves him the same exact way (or is even capable of doing so), but she does know she loves him, a lot, and for PB that’s enough. They call themselves a couple, they kiss and date and are happy, there is no tragic imbalance. Is this queerplatonic, or just an unconventional romantic couple?

Here’s a helpful source: https://aromantic.wikia.org/wiki/Queerplatonic . A queerplatonic relationship is one where the line is blurred between platonic and romantic. They can differ wildly across couples, some examples being best friends who love each other platonically and adopt a child together, or perhaps roommates that like to cuddle and kiss. PB and Midnight are not a standard romantic couple, their feelings remain ambiguous, but they care deeply for one another, are quite physically affectionate (mostly in private), and wish to be together, in a way that transcends typical friendship, more like a partnership.
