Jam and Arte's first meeting occurs because, while Jam is an excellent pickpocket (the plus side to talking circles around people is it's easier to distract them from where your hands are slipping into their bags), Arte is a master in the art of stealth and is Not Impressed (though she maybe becomes a *little* impressed after a while, not that she'd ever show it).
