I can't even really articulate why I like this pairing so much, I just do. Jerk jocks in love, just ticks all my boxes. I can, however answer why Dumbbell, a grown ass stallion, is in a crop top. Well, dear readers, that's cuz Bell is a big jock thot. He's openly bisexual and used to date his best buddy Hoops, before they figured they liked things better as bros (no bromo, get it? i'm on some strong allergy meds tonite guys)
Rainbow is also bi, and dated around a lot because yanno, intimacy issues. Her past partners include Applejack, Spitfire, Quibble Pants, Pinkie Pie.....most of Ponyville, really. Dash has a "try everything" mentality and liked to sample what other ponies had to offer, before inevitably panicking when things started getting close and claustrophobic. Dumbbell was meant to be a one-time thing with a familiar face, but they ended up crossing paths again, and again, dating on and off over a long, long period. And Dash just got kinda used to Dummy being there, in her kitchen, making pancakes so they could carboload before a workout. Also, he's got a fantastic ass, absolutely exquisite buns of steel. These are the things she included in her wedding vows. Their love is a stupid, crass love only comprehended by few, with mean nicknames ("Crash" and "Dummy"), and occasional gooey tenderness when nopony is looking.
