April 2023 Newsletter Early

Hello,

It is a day early, but I'll be in Kyoto tomorrow, so I may not have time to write this. I figured I'd get it out of the way now.

I don't have too much to add. Being on vacation means I can't do as much work, and I probably shouldn't be working at all since it is vacation, but I like writing and I want to give you guys content to enjoy even when I'm away.

Severing Time & Space is now on volume 7. I think I mentioned this in another newsletter. This is when all my plot threads that I have been leaving loose for a long time come together. I hope I can write this in a way that does my intended vision justice, and I hope you will all enjoy reading it.

The American Kitsune webcomic is also coming along. I plan to begin formatting more content once I get home. I can't now because my laptop doesn't have Clip Studio Paint, which is what I use to format chapters into webcomic episodes.

Now, onto some sad news and part of the reason I am writing this now. I received a very, uh, informative DM on Twitter today.

Now, disregarding the false statement that "all ecchi manga online is uncensored" (manga only ever becomes uncensored after it is released in print), this person claims they have all my patron content for free and that's why they wouldn't pay me to see it.

As a small-time content creator, I lack the funds necessary to do a lot of the things I want. I'd like to create more webcomics, adapt my OELNs into audiobooks, and commission more awesome artists to bring my characters to life. All of this costs money. It costs money to hire my artist to draw the American Kitsune webcomic (I pay roughly $1,500-2,000 a month for my artist to make this webcomic), money to hire narrators to create audiobooks, and money to commissions artists for my monthly Patreon art.

In short, if I don't make enough money, I cannot create content.

This is just a plea from a small creator, but please, please do not be like this guy. Supporting content creators is important if you want content. Aside from our living expenses, we need money to make art.

Screw the pirate dude, if he’s a piece of shit who tries to rip off artists’ work for free, then he has no room to complain and expect people to care. Subscribing on Patreon isn’t just paying for content, it’s supporting the artists you enjoy and want to see excel in doing what they have a passion to create.

I think that pirate dude is a scurvy Nave he doesn't really know what he's talking about. I love your content and always have and always will as far as I know and I am happy more than happy to support as well as I can. πŸ€“

One why pirate stuff if the author goes broke and no more content thats just stupid ideas, two enjoying japanese light novels manga hentai etc and being like them is awesomeness in my book and you should be flattered to be accused of it take it as a positive, three love your work so like tipping a waitress at a good cafe i buy the books or audio narration as well as reading it on patreon and i do this with all my patreon authors (its the only way to keep good authors going). So jealous of your time on hols in japan, i have japanese sweets bath salts and love the cooking even own 4 toyota 1985 to 89 mr2 love the origami cars as we call them also have 3 jap motorbikes so pretty invested in the culture

The pirate is an asshole. I don’t think he has all your content either since he’s complaining about not being able to see something you get on higher tiers. We sub to your Patreon because we want to see more of the awesome work you’ve made. Enjoy your trip!

Thank you. I really appreciate that. It's hard enough for small time creators like me to produce content, especially since my content requires money to create and not just time. I'm always grateful to people who are willing to help support me monetarily so I can keep creating.

Love what you do and I am very happy to give what I do so that you continue to do so.
