Act I Finished

Now that WIEDERGEBURT: Legend of the Reincarnated Warrior Act 1 is finished, I figured I'd write a bit about my plans for this series.

I'm honestly not very good at this sort of thing. Because I am a discovery writer and generally do not know what I will write until it's already been written, it's hard for me to make plans. That said, I do have a few ideas in the work.

I'm sure everyone who has read the last chapter of act 1 has realized that Kari is a bit more cunning than she at first appeared in the beginning of this series. I haven't been able to show it much yet, but aside from being an adventurous spirit with a desire to travel the world, Kari is also very intelligent and crafty. If she believes doing something will make her and her loved ones happy, she won't hesitate to use any and every means available to her to accomplish it. I plan on showing more of this cunning side in the following arcs.

I think the greatest turning point of this series was the end, where Kari suggests to Eryk that he courts her and Fay at the same time. One of the problems I've always had with harems in general is the distinct lack of forethought put into how the harem forms. A lot of writers use the "You're so loving, I know you can love us all equally!" justification, but I always thought that was garbage.

With this series, I wanted to give Kari a legitimate reason for proposing the harem idea. Her reason is completely selfish. She wants her best friend back, and she's willing to do whatever it takes for that to happen, including share Eryk with Fay. I think giving Kari a selfish reason for wanting Eryk to form a harem is more believable than if her reasons were "I know you can love all of us equally" or "I don't have a problem sharing you with other women," which always felt like poor excuses to me.

On that note, Kari's thoughts on Lin run along the lines of, "if I'm going to have Eryk court Fay, I might as well let him court Lin too." It's sort of an "in for a penny, in for a pound" line of thinking. Of course, Kari also has some ideas for Lin too. I won't say anything right now, but I hope everyone likes the ideas I come up with for their relationship.

In regards to the revelations of Eryk's previous life, I plan to continue showing flashbacks that reveal more and more of his life before he was sent back in time. There are a lot of shocking reveals and important world building events that I can't show without these flashback/dream sequences. I plan on revealing a lot more about the mysterious creatures that have invaded Eryk's world. A lot of the assumptions that were made about these creatures in the first act are going to be completely disabused. They aren't what Eryk and the others believe right now. I'm going to explore these mysterious enemies even more in Acts 2 and 3.

There's not much else to say. I hope you have all been enjoying this series. I plan on eventually publishing this on paperback and kindle. It will likely be awhile, but be sure to keep your eyes peeled.
