Working on American Kitsune Vol. 10!

Currently, my illustrator is working on the illustrations for volume 10. Our process is pretty simple. She creates several thumbnail sketches, and then I choose one from the group and suggest potential edits for her to make.
These are the thumbnails for the first illustration of American Kitsune volume 10. I wonder what you all make of these? What do these illustrations say to you?
