I usually rush paintings but with this one I spread the work out over a number of days. The ref was one of my own zoo pics.
The colors I laid down initially for the underpainting were just leftover crap I had from a commission. So I worked a lot more blue/green and purply colors in than I ordinarily would. Which turned out interesting??? I kind of like the idea of putting in an underpainting of just whatever color first. I'm sure there's a smarter way to handle it than I did just slopping color around but I'll do that by learning.
