I myself love texture in paintings, but it's probably hard to convey digitally. Thanks for the generous reply, and all the fun arting more!

2019-10-07 19:26:11 +0000 UTCI'm such a dope; I really should be putting this kind of information in the description but I'm so driven to go off and art some more I forget to plump up the info. Things like: Laying down an underpainting, which I did in a lighter brown and blue and then added color on top. Glazing, which is adding a mix of solvent and oil to the paint to create either a translucent or transparent layer. I do the same thing in acrylic but with a different mix. This oil paint is MUCH thicker and more pigment heavy so the mix and application of paint are very different. Also spotting and fixing compositional errors. At first I didn't have that shadow down at the bottom and the image wasn't framed in anyway. The eye just kind of fell off the bottom of the 'page'. I'm also working on blending, and the right kind of mixes I need to do that, when is the best point in paint tackiness to try it, which brush is best, etc. I'm finding the coarse boar bristle brushes are NOT right for me, because I don't care for texture and they're difficult to blend. I like a softer brush. Also, like watercolor, it's find to work wet into wet and on an absolutely dry painting, but if it's somewhere inbetween wet and dry you get unwanted buildup of paint in some places and accidental scrubbing up of paint in others, and it's a bear to fix. I can see how it could be used to add very interesting texture and visual variety if you do it on purpose and manage to control it, but when I'm trying to blend smooth it is very unhelpful.
