I just recently watched Nausicaa, and I have to say... it is not only one of those films that shows Japanese film makers and story tellers at their best, or Hayao Miyazaki at his best (to be more specific), but this movie is also one of the best examples of film making and storytelling at their best in general.
Looking back at the classics, you can tell when compared to most movies of today that the creators cared so much more for the quality of their stories as opposed to just flashy visuals. Back then, stories actually mattered and determined whether a movie failed or succeeded. These days... not so much. Which is why I have so much distain for marvel, dc and whatever stupid sequels are being pumped out by whatever studios are trying to make a quick cash grab (the only decent movie I saw recently was The Northmen, and oh man was that an experience and a half, and only one of the few films that actually gave a damn about world building, lore and staying true to a creative vision)
Sorry for the rant.
Anyway, after watching Nausicaa, I was struck by a bit of inspiration. Combining my love of dystopian stories, barbarian fantasies and freedom that only the wilds can provide, I just wanted to sketch out this little piece (I might even do a bit more of this in the future). This piece is just Nausicaa - one of the greatest and most underrated female protagonists and heroes ever created- exploring the post-apocalyptic world that is hers. And what better freedom is there than experiencing the wilds as nature intended.
It's something I feel like she may have done off-screen while on one of her many adventures across the ravaged Earth.
I hope you guys enjoyed this one. I know I've been very light on content these last couple weeks (a combination of work, family events, and an affliction I have charmingly dubbed my 'annual fuck you cough' have really set me back), however, tomorrow I will be uploading my next fabulous doujinshi as a thank you for all of your patience. :)
You guys are in for a treat if you love Kamehasutra and any of Pandora's Box's work.
