A pretty basic but very requested video, so here we go.

This video is going to go public tonight

Not much you can do against fingerprinting apart from a virtual machine with Windows 10 and Edge :( Changing user-agents wouldn't help

Wolfgang

Some of the things you cover i did it in a leaser mode, which means i was on the right track! yay! now i just need to apply them better or more, BTW now that i think of it, would switching user agents + the firefox containers help to reduce fingerprinting? since you can have special containers with special user agent for those places

Diego

I agree with Rob Braxman here. Browser isolation is only a workaround, but it's the best 'solution' we have to the problem. The tab container functionality that I mentioned would help for isolating cookies/cache/etc., but not against browser fingerprinting (you're still using the same browser/OS/extensions/etc., so you're right, the fingerprint wouldn't change). In the context of my video, I mentioned browser fingerprinting as a counterpoint to the popular myth that companies wouldn't be able to track you when you use a VPN, since your IP changes.

Really enjoy these types of videos, especially when I already took some of those steps mentioned. Makes me feel a bit more ensured that I'm not just following random advice, but actually making progress. I will definitely give your mailbox suggestion a try. I tried to setup a self hosted mail server, but my knowledge of the requirements is too limited to setup anything with confidence. I first learned about (Browser) Fingerprinting through Rob Braxman, he claimed browser fingerprinting can only effectively be used by companies like Google and Facebook who have a lot of embedded functionality on sites outside of their ecosystem (captcha, login through x, like/share buttons). Which would then allow them to match fingerprints made there to your account identity. I liked his idea of browser Isolation. Using a full browser to use those specific services on with as many extensions and customization as desired, while on your "main" browser you use as little customization and extensions as possible and are logged out of all their ecosystems in an attempt to make that fingerprint unable to be matched with the fingerprint/account on your isolated browser. Your main browser will look like just an average user. I use brave on a proxy for the isolation and firefox as my main with pihole dns adblocker and so far it's been pretty comfy though I do miss ublock on some occasions. He also mentioned firefox sessions, he claimed that those sessions may isolate cookies but the fingerprint will be more or less the same as a fingerprint does not need to require cookies in order to be able to identify/match your identity. I guess what I really want to do with this wall of text, is ask you what you think of browser isolation and particularly about Rob Braxman and the claims I mentioned here? I went to /g/ (a bit of a rough place, but some of them give good faith answers) and a few commented about his questionable vpn and social media products. But they weren't as opposed to browser isolation. I would consider your input on all the above claims/techniques as invaluable.

Timmy
