Glad to see I'm not the only one doing this exact thing.

It's so weird thinking that being mistaken by itself has a moral valence.

Hey person who doesn't believe in objective right and wrong, give me examples of objective rights and wrongs please.

I really cringe when I think of some of my worldview at that age. Thank dog YouTube wasn't around to immortalize it.

What I've gleaned from this whole series is that this guy is a victim of his own brain. He discovered nihilism, either through his studies or the internet, and it threw him into an existential downward spiral, desperate for something, anything, to ease his mental dissonance about being "meaningless". And then, Christianity was there to soothe the pain. If anything, this is a good case study on why religion exists. Not because people are dumb, or uninformed, or malicious, but because our ape-brains are not well equipped to deal with the existential dread of realizing that we aren't part of a safe and predictable universe that gives us and our lives objective "meaning", and religion offers an out in the form of a supernatural force or being. It's most likely one of the three fundamental driving forces that created religion; fear of the unknown natural phenomena around us, fear of death, and fear of all of our lives and works being rendered meaningless.

Having now watched (or more accurately, listened to) all 4 parts, I can say that this fellow has the conviction of youth, and that he doesn't understand that he isn't nearly as wise or well informed as he thinks he is. He lacks self awareness, and suffers from more than a little Dunning/Kreuger.

I like the invocation of taking a massive shit, in relation to finishing these videos.

The guy is clueless. He really can't imagine a moral, over a meaningful, life without his god. But he isn't disrespectful and can even be funny at times. Good to listen to while writing up Pathfinder monsters.

I’ve watched all 4 of these in 1 day (with breaks in between!) and a video on the same guy by the SkepTick… my head hurts! 😫
