I'll leave gameplay out of it since it's a futile argument and soloely a matter of a person's in question taste. That said I myself think that TF2 is boring and OW is a great game.

TF2 : 

Pros: Free (I first played it when I bought Orange Box so I paid for it); Memes 2010-2014; somewhat friendly community; modding; it became a part of G-MOD

Cons: Source Engine (dated and bad even at it's better days to be honest); children; hats and microtransactions (community market); Valve doesn't give a shit about it anymore

Overwatch: 

Pros: Art style; Character design and skins (waifu material too); comepletely different gameplay styles for each character; big character pool; couterpicks; game mods and memorable events; POTG; ultra fun with friends; cinematics and game related media (fanmade porn included); memes 2016+; The way microtransactions are handled = lootboxes (if only Valve could learn from it); Soundtrack; Developer feedback; became a part of HoTS

Cons: Expensive first time purchace; system requerments (I can barely run it at 7-20 fps on lowest possible settings yet I admit i loved game so much I still played it for couple of months even with that horrible framerate); Cancerous in-game Community; Competetive play is garbage - you can't one-man yourself all the way up to Diamond (or higher) unless you are really lucky, because in 90% of cases your teammates are crybabes who would call you faggot and stay at spawn if you ask them to pick healer or tank, you always have to play healer or tank on competetive because assholes only pick Reaper, Tracer, Hanzo, Genji and Widowmaker. I am not saying that these said characters have no utility, just that people pick them because of the looks or "mah main" reasons. Literally every time. Even if you pick healer there is no tank or if you pick tank there is no healer. Your teammates never do their roles (Healer won't heal, tank won't "keep aggro", damage dealers can't aim for shit and do less damage than you when you are tanking even though you prioritize in soaking damage). For instance I can't even be bothered how many times during my ranked matches at a freaking platinum I managed to get 5 gold medals (objectives kills, objective time, eliminations, damage, HEALING) as a Roadhog even though I had 10 fps (imagine online shooter with that framerate). In other words solo queue is worst.
