I have doubts if things would have been any different had Jonty been in Lex's shoes. Lex was a Demon/Vampire hybrid, and Lex was made a hybrid, not born one. I think such a conversion process is risky if I remember a lore page correctly, and it may have went wrong for Lex altering his mind and personality for the worst.
