Also, another cool sports film to checkout out is Hustle. It’s on Netflix. It is probably Adam Sandler’s best performance of his career and was also nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards for his performance in this film, and it deals with a subject that really has not been given an in-depth look at in a film: the combine process of getting drafted. Also, you would love it because most of the film takes place in Philly. Highly recommend this film.

If you want to see another great sports film, highly recommend Hoosiers (1986) and this would fall under history since based in 1951. Hoosiers is one of the best basketball films of all time. Also, has one of the greatest scores in a sports film ever with a Jerry Goldsmith Oscar nominated score. This film also has Dennis Hopper’s only Oscar nominated performance and stars Gene Hackman. This film is also great because it really shows how much basketball is so much a part of the state of Indiana’s culture. Was back in the 50’s and still is today.

Brad Pitt was nominated for Best Actor for this film. Also, Jonah Hill was also nominated for Best Supporting Actor for this film as well.

For better or worse, multiple sports started implementing advanced metrics to their evaluation around the time period of "Moneyball". The trend in sports was leaning that way but Beane proved heavy reliance on advanced metrics can offer success on a GM and developmental level. It was soon after Beane's success, multiple sports franchises across North Ametican sports invested heavily into Billy Beane's way of thinking.

Well i love this movie I'm also a huge Oakland A's fan and it bugs me that they left so much out of this movie. They only mentioned Miguel Tejada once in the entire movie. Miguel would win the MVP award that year without him none of what the A's did was possible. They also barley talk about how good the A's pitching was having Barry Zito,Tim Hudson and Mark Mulder all in there starting rotation was huge key to there success. Overall they did a great job with this movie just wish they would have included a little more detail

Drew Or Die

Not the same Billy beane. The guy that the movie is based on is still alive

There are lots of great sports films, but I love the behind the scenes machinations in this one. 🔥

Linda

Sadly, Billy Beane just passed away little more than a week ago. 😟

Linda

Another well written sports film which is about so much more than the sport.
