GREAT SCREENWRITING MOVIE RECOMMENDATIONS

There's a lot that makes a script great, but I'd love to see what films are uniquely great in their ways of executing the story, characters, and even appearing two steps ahead of the audience. Mysteries, dramas, sci-fi, action..all are great genres for screenwriters to bend the stories and engage the audience. What are some examples of great screen writing in films you'd like for me to study and experience?

Please comment TWO films per person.

Putting a Poll up Monday/Tuesday morning :)

Heheh hello Mister Pocket...

Tetley

One Cut of the Dead! It's a foreign film and I highly recommend not looking up anything about it just to add to the experience

Body Heat

Fred Migliorini

Ballad of Buster Scruggs!

Despite it being a true story, foxcatcher is up there with some of the best more silent depictions of characters I’ve ever seen in screenwriting alongside performance. So is the social network, on a more blatant level.

Charlie Johnson

Boogie Nights (1997) and Babylon (2023)

Miquon Jackson

Parasite (2019) Korean film

LibGyps

Hell or Highwater (2016)
