2024-07-05 08:51:26 +0000 UTCKahane got Islamic theology wrong when it comes to intermarriage: women who are People of the Book (i.e. Jewish or Christian, and sometimes certain other ancient religions) are allowed to marry Muslim men without converting, though men who are People of the Book are not allowed to marry Muslim women without converting. This creates a conundrum with Jewish matrilineal descent, where the children of a Jewish woman and Muslim man could be considered Jewish and Muslim at the same time. And if one is a fundamentalist type, this sort of conundrum is probably *worse* than if the woman simply converted (in which case one could simply write her off).
