2022-08-13 04:03:00 +0000 UTCHi James. I am not sure if you have seen the film Grease or not, but if you have not, might check it out. It’s a iconic musical starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton John (also plenty of talking scenes as well, so wouldn’t have to mute non-stop). Also, be a fitting tribute to Olivia Newton John who died this week. It’s also just a fun film to watch and have a great time with.

2022-08-13 01:05:21 +0000 UTCJames, thank you for throwing some classics on! Went with Lawrence of Arabia and Paths of Glory, but oh boy, Rashomon and M are towering achievements as well

2022-08-12 08:05:04 +0000 UTCI cannot believe a shitshow like Kick Ass is beating quality films like Deliverance or When Harry Met Sally or Rashomon or Drunken Master II. Oh wait, Idiocracy predicted this crap.

2022-08-12 05:17:22 +0000 UTCSam - I'd say look at it from the perspective that it was the first time a story had been told like that on film, and Kurosawa came up with a bunch of filming techniques that'd never been used before. (Kind of like Hamlet and Akira. They changed the game for all the imitators that came after.) My personal favorite of Kurosawa is High and Low - top five detective movie.

2022-08-12 01:21:17 +0000 UTCI really wanted to like Rashomon, but found it dull. Will perhaps need to rewatch it eventually.

2022-08-11 21:41:37 +0000 UTCIt’s a shame Deliverance is not doing too well. James would love the intensity embedded in the beautiful nature setting.

2022-08-11 21:40:32 +0000 UTCThere are a lot of really good old movies on list, and was the first list in a long time that vote was a really difficult choice. I'll be happy with whichever films win.

2022-08-11 15:04:33 +0000 UTCSuch a great choice of films, thank you James. This week I'm voting for 3 films: 1. M Once seen, never forgotten. I could say so much about that film, but I won't 2. Paths of Glory One of the greatest war/anti-war films ever made 3. Rashomon One of the very best mysteries ever put to film, the film that made Kurosawa a director to watch But, again, there are so many others listed, but hopefully, at least one of my favourites will be chosen (but especially M).
