I'm kind of the same way. I appreciate the work in the actual filmmaking but wasn't that invested in the overall story. The first time I watched it, I left the room after the bear attack. The way it was built up to me really affected my reaction. Watched it fully about a year after that and didn't feel like I missed a lot. Like I said - respect to the filmmaking and acting, etc.

2022-05-23 04:42:03 +0000 UTCUnpopular opinion, but I found The Revenant super-overrated, though to be fair I’m not a big fan of Inarritu anyways. For me, Leo’s been doing Oscar caliber roles since “This Boys Life”, and especially “The Aviator”, so I found his win for this movie to be bittersweet.
