City of Lost Children is definitely the natural follow up to this. Probably set in the same universe, it has the same director and a lot of the cast. It has a bigger budget and uses it well, though the movie is a bit less funny and a bit more horrifying.

I love this movie !!!! So that's two movies of Jean Pierre Jeunet that you're watching with Amélie (maybe 3 if you've seen Alien 4 since he directed it x)). Jeunet is an atypical director even in the French industry. He is fascinated by the old France of the 20's and 30's, an aesthetic that can be found in all his French films (an aesthetic that can also be found in Albert Dupontel movies, another great French director). He likes very much the characters with strange faces, he likes to create them a personality of their own in a universe at the same time bizarre, surreal and super consistent.
I also love how the camera is a character itself, moving where it wants, in the pipes, following the movements of the metronome, etc.
And then all these visual gags, these absurd situation gags, it's so good !!!
I can only recommend you now "The city of lost children" and "a very long engagement" which are according to me his two best films, a little bit darker, I'm sure you'll love it!
