I found the VIPs incredibly hokey and badly written on first viewing, but seeing the scenes again I think the point was to show how NOT special, interesting, or important they are. They're just horny shlubby jackasses who's station in life is just an accident of birth. Thus showing how it's the real world, and not the game, that is truly rigged.

It just must be the vibe that the writers wanted for the show.. however the delivery from the actors could be better lol. I’m sure it was hard to find quality western actors in Korea

Regarding these episodes, YES that no one cares (from the organization) about her wound is going against the entire ideology. The only argument I could see for that is, that the Frontman is outside and doesn't witness it while the rest doesn't care. The truth most likely is that they simply needed a 1v1 for the finale and this was their way to get to it.
