2021-05-27 07:24:59 +0000 UTCA couple more bits of trivia: if you look carefully in the early scene where Willard is being briefed about the mission, Harrison Ford is wearing the name Lucas on his uniform, which was a nod to George Lucas, who was originally supposed to direct the film, but he backed out of the project to direct another pet project of his own about some kind of sci fi film... Star something... and he and Francis Ford Coppola had a falling out as a result for years, but later reconciled. Plus, Captain Willard's name, Benjamin Willard was made up of the first names of Harrison Ford's two sons at the time, Benjamin and Willard.

Lee Ermey who was the drill instructor in 'Full Metal Jacket'.

You will not believe the stories, issues, problems and personalities this film had that no one knew about. Insane. There is also tons of Easter Eggs in this film before they were a thing in modern movies. AND there is some crazy theories that this film was the PREQUAL to Taxi Driver. Think about that for a bit...
