Nothing wrong with Cast Away but nothing very special either. If you're going for Robert Zemeckis and already have seen Forrest Gump and Back To The Future I would've picked Contact, which is both very epic and personal and has some for the time groundbreaking camera techniques (the medicine cabinet shot)

To me the friendship between Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles is so relatable that it would remind anyone of their own personal friendship with their best friend. Part of the magic behind the film is you really feel for these characters. Also great metaphor film for artist vs corporation.
