Gattaca Filmmaker Uncut Movie Reaction!

Fell a little behind watching this one, love Gattaca. If you like sci-fi you should watch Frequency too. It’s sci-fi mixed with a serial killer thriller, but it is also very heartfelt family drama as well. It’s like Back to the Future meets Seven. Stars Dennis Quaid, Jim Caviezel, and Andre Braugher. https://youtu.be/jdACpDDpIUs

the score to this film is simply beautiful and inspiring

I'm so glad you enjoyed Gattaca! It's such an underrated gem of a movie. I really love the stylistic choices to use art deco, retro cars and design for all the sci-fi elements. It makes the film look kind of timeless (I sometimes forget it was made in 1997). The themes of striving against the odds and identity really transcend genres. Michael Nyman's soundtrack is sublime, it really wrenches at the heart. And I too am obsessed with the scene where Vincent/Jerome blows smoke into the wine glass to demonstrate what Titan is like. That and the intense stair case climb. I also love the chemistry between Vincent and Eugene, they have such a good dynamic. If you’re interested the anniversary “making of” featurette is on youtube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ft8Rfy1Tfzc&t . Thank you so much for reacting to this!

I love this movie so much... Such an underrated sci fi. Subtly stylish, exquisitely written, fantastically cast and acted. Quotable, too, if more people had seen it. I didn't expect you to pick up that it was his brother so early, but they did a good job finding guys who looked enough alike to toe the line between being too obvious and being plausibly aged between actors. Such a bittersweet ending with Jerome killing himself, too. I mean he clearly wasn't happy, but as he said, he got to share in the dream of someone he ended up admiring. I'm glad you got to watch this, James! It's one of my all-time faves, so I'm glad you enjoyed it so much! Cheers!

I saw this movie at a young age and through my life (im 23 now) its been a driving force for me. One of the most eloquent depictions of success and freedom ive seen. Through abuse, drug addled family, poverty and homelessness i keep moving forward. Ive lost most of what i cared about, and sacrifed what was left, but i almost have my degree, and i start flight school in a couple months. Only recently whats left of my family has started to notice how strong i am, and they asked me what kept me going. i gave some answer but couldnt tell them it was because of this movie i knew i could make it. Some art really does touch people and i hope people take as much out of this film as i have, at times this is all i was.
