Patreon Discussion

Okay. So,I'm aiming to re-open my Patreon next month, but I've considered that there may need to be a few changes to make it work.
This is my current situation: Commission and real life obligations.

When I had Patreon open, I was juggling those three things and all the art I had to work on for rewards made it difficult for me to make progress on my commissions. But money is a necessity. How Patreon works is people pay me for something I can offer.

The question is: What would you like to see? What can I offer you all that you would want to subscribe to that will still grant me enough time to focus on my commissions and real life obligations? What can I offer a collective than just creating more rewards (and by extension a larger workload) for individual patrons.

These ideas will be able to help me find a way to restructure my Patreon.

I am aware that changes to my patreon will most likely reduce the amount of money I make and I am prepared for that as these are changes need to be done for me to achieve some sort of balance.

Oh not to worry. The lower tiers most likely won't be changing much if at all.

I feel like I would want something for the price. I have many people I'm pledged to so I probably wouldn't go anywhere higher than $5. Raising the tiers with less content wouldn't be good imo

Hmm... could kill two birds with one stone by putting up pics of your finished, or even wip, of the commissions you’re working on. Could even bump up the prices on the tiers and add in a base one to get access or something.

After reviewing your tiers, removing tier 3 might be the simplest thing to do. But I still advise lowering the work load on yourself with Patreon, and try to move to more free drawing and sharing as an artist. That way it isn’t always hard to get yourself interested in finishing.

Well Joey, Patreon for me is a daily to weekly check. Some artists like to bunch up their art, some do one a day. Given your history, from what I’ve witnessed, I would highly recommend something like $5 or up to $10. The lower rate will attract more patrons. If you are going to offer special commissions or art requests to certain Patrons, I would recommend making that Patron price high. Not to rip someone off, but hopefully if they are “that” dedicated, the amount of money hopefully would boost you to finish their commission/request. But the idea behind that is to give you fewer projects to finish, and more freedom to free draw and share just what is on your mind at the moment. For me, I don’t want to see you stressed out again. I’d enjoy a daily or weekly piece done by you of your commissions/requests/whatever is on your mind. That stability is attractive to viewers. I enjoy stuff from you every month or so from your stream sketch shares or art dumps. I don’t always have time to hit up your streams. I hope this was helpful <3
