We are in a major society shift right now and some get so drawn into what they think is "right" they lose sight of the human reality. I am a 100% disabled vet(cPTSD took 35 yrs to get correct dx and for VA to grant disability for MST only 6 yrs ago; before, lived on SSD 25 yrs-not fun) who is an old fossil seen a LOT of change since coming out in 1981 as a lesbian and trying to live as a single working woman in the 80's onward. Men hated women invading their workspace sexual assault, abuse was common). Dark humor is the way marginalized groups dealt with the BS of everyday, the catharsis for our collective frustration, sorrow, pain, anger. HIGHLY offensive jokes common among the lesbians as a way to deal with bs of straight world. Comedians provide the role of easing the societal angst so we can function another day in the looking glass world of life *adulting*. During AIDS dark humor, camp (think john Waters) was a gays salvation as we endured watching so many beautiful people ignored and dying with nobody in government even wanting to recognize them let alone help. Took until 1987 for Reagan to authorize the CDC to start tracking AIDS deaths even though in 1983 when I was in Army they warned us about this STD that killed. When all is cloudy and the world seems insane dark humor allows us to see the harsh reality and poke a giant stick in the eye of the world. (I'm a bit high and drunk but you getting shit over the suicide comment is people who maybe haven't really lived and dealt with life's adversities and horrors are incapable understanding what real despair long lived feels like, there must be a release valve. I as a multiple psych ward babe tend to laugh first at jokes on the subject for it gives connection. Your use was also an no brainier, too many right now are too obsessed with labels, boxes, righteousness that serves themselves and thier egos.
