Gribgrabs are a strange, bright red species from a nearby timeline. They are approximately the color of a fire truck and stand around three feet tall. The body of these creatures is shaped like a football, with a gently humped back that extends down into a long, muscular trunk. Under this trunk is the mouth of the gribgrab, and below that they sport ten, tentacle-like legs. Gribgrabs have eight yellow eyes positioned at the front of their heads, which can often be seen glinting in the darkness at night.
The home timeline of the gribgrab is one of oppressive desert heat, so on this reality they thrive in our vast, sandy landscapes. It is within these vacant expanses that they are constantly hunting for food, and their method is quite unique.
The trunk of a gribgrab is equipped with a potent method of suction, the creature inhaling incredible amounts of sand into its nasal passages with a biological grate at the tip of this appendage. The creature can store an incredible amount of sand within its sinus network, and when these passages are full it will cough out a pile of sand without harm.
In the meantime, anything larger than a sand grain will be held against the front of a gribgrab’s trunk, most importantly insects, invertebrates or small mammals that burrow under the desert to avoid the heat. It’s on these snacks that the gribgrab sustains itself.
Gribgrabs are also known for their particularly unique tracks, featuring random arrangements of sharply pointed tentacle limbs and a singular path of suctioned up sand down the middle.
