(Timeline Tuesday #222)
The Towering Nothing is not a species, but a singular creature from the space between timelines, also known as The Void. Unlike most voidal creatures, The Towering Nothing has a humanoid appearance, and because of this it is sometimes hypothesized that this entity is from a space where the Void and a shattered timeline meet, a sort of estuary half-reality.
The Towering Nothing will appear on damaged timelines, specifically in places where the fabric of reality has worn thin and The Void has already started seeping through. Because of the creature’s size, the reality in question must be particularly wounded, and once a towering nothing slips through the damage will swiftly worsen.
This entity stands at approximately two-hundred and fifty feet tall, an enormous humanoid creature draped in a black cloak, which it keeps secured tightly around its body. All that can be seen of The Towering Nothing are it’s long, dark fingers and its oval shaped head, which pops out from the top of it’s cloaked body. The Towering Nothing has brilliant yellow eyes and constantly bared teeth, as well as a bald head.
Like most voidal intruders, The Towering Nothing’s presence alone causes all kinds of timeline mutations and promotes surges in void madness. In fact, this appears to be all the creature does, simply existing on a reality until it crumbles. Those struck by void madness involving The Towering Nothing will find themselves obsessed with questions of why the creature is there. They beg The Towering Nothing to explain itself, or to react at all, but The Towering Nothing will simply stand.
Some kind of unseen voidal barrier keeps The Towering Nothing from being harmed by physical objects and attacks, but certain magical or spiritual techniques from distant timelines have been known to ward off this entity and force its return to The Void.
