(Timeline Tuesday #191)
Spreelockes are large, pseudo-reptilian creatures that stand approximately five feet tall. They have pale green bodies that are covered in scales, although these scales are so small and fine that they appear to have an almost leathery texture. The creatures have two arms and a sturdy torso, atop which sits their distinctly-shaped head.
The cranium of a spreelocke is highly specialized. They are blind creatures with no eyes, but they have an incredible perception of the world around them thanks to a deep sensitivity of timeline vibrations. They have a small, round mouth at the end of her hammer-like head, and small earholes on either sid, but these are not visible without close inspection. What a spreelocke skull mostly resembles, however, is a spray bottle. It also functions in a similar way.
Spreelockes are capable of producing a number of different liquid sprays, some of them concentrated and direct, while others come out in a fine mist. Scientists estimate there are upwards of four hundred different chemical sprays available to the spreelocke at will, although the exact number remains unknown.
What is known is that each of these chemicals creates a different effect. While some of them are toxic and deadly, others can produce the emotion of love or deep affection from a target. Chemicals that have been discovered during the study of spreelockes are: truth serums, disinfecting soap, silicone lubrication, a combustible similar to gasoline, cherry flavoring, and glue.
Despite their strange and primal appearance—and their affinity for living in dark caverns—
spreelockes are actually quite intelligent. These creatures form tight-knit communities and communicate with each other through a complex language of chirps and clicks. However, they prefer to keep to themselves and avoid most contact with humans.
