(Timeline Tuesday #185)
Chickitubes are an odd species of bird from a nearby timeline, who bear many similarities to the natural chickens of our world but also display a few notable differences. They are covered in feathers and can range in coloration, displaying varying degrees of tan, orange, black or white. Chickitubes have two long legs that end in three-toed claws, and have a pair of wings that offer them limited flight. They have a small beak, and a set of beady eyes.
Chickitubes also adhere to the lifecycle and social traits of chickens on our reality. They cluck and strut, exhibiting the same behavior as these distant timeline cousins, but most notable is their egg-laying ability.
This is where chickitubes slightly differ. Their body is a distinct cylinder shape, and it’s in this strange tunnel that the chickitubes keep their eggs. Every day, the creature will lean forward, open an orifice on the top of its head, and allow all four of the eggs to roll out. They offer farmers quadruple the production of a natural chicken.
Chickitubes were genetically created on an alternate timeline where being productive is the number one societal value. While it might seem like that’s also the case on this reality, folks on the world of chickitubes take it to entirely new heights of obsession. The chickitube is one of the many strange creatures that came out of this fanatical industrialization.
