The vast majority of timeline incursions occur for two reasons. The first is accidental, an unplanned situation where a rip between this timeline and some other reality allows guests to wander across the divide. So long as the invasive creature’s biology can sustain itself on this layer, the new creature has a chance to gradually populate our world.

The second kind of timeline incursions happen when a species intentionally invades our reality. Usually, these species have some kind of timeline shifting ability, and they use it to spread out across universes. Some of these creatures are welcomed, others are not.

The healing star arrived here for a different reason, however. In this particular case, researchers and environmentalists from our own reality entered the healing star timeline and brought them back for a very specific purpose.

Healing stars are simple aquatic organisms, similar in size and temperament to the starfish of our reality. They are slow and gentle, silently crawling across saltwater rocks. Unlike starfish, however, healing stars have only four limbs, creating a cross reminiscent to the medical symbols of our reality. Their gentle, light blue coloration also hints at healing properties.

Anything within twenty yards of a healing star will be pushed towards a fate of health and wellness. While the success rate is not one hundred percent, proximity to these creatures creates and undeniably more positive outcome. Healing stars are often placed across dying coral reefs, but also kept in tanks within most hospitals and medical facilities.
