SPOTTED GIMBEL - TIMELINE #9871330

(Timeline Tuesday #155)

Spotted gimbels are a species of odd lizard from a nearby timeline. Under casual observation, the standard gimbel appears to be very similar to a spotted one, although standards do not feature the trademark dots that meander across a spotted gimbel’s back. Standard gimbels also do not possess any timeline bending abilities, which makes them much less common on our reality.

The creatures are small and slender, approximately ten inches long, with two arm and two legs. Each appendage ends in a four digit hand, with sticky pads on the fingertips that allow a spotted gimbel to climb and hang with ease. They are light blue in coloration, with an orange belly and a messy line of signature orange spots along their spine. On the brow of this species is a large bump. The tail of a spotted gimbel is quite strong and can be used for climbing, although it’s most common application is communication.

At the end of a spotted gimbel’s tail rests a small bell made of hard cartilage, and containing a freely moving sphere within. When the creature shakes its tail, this movement will produce a distinct ringing sound that echoes throughout the forest canopy that these creatures call home. While the standard gimbel only produces a singular note, spotted gimbels use their powers of timeline dilation to create slower or faster soundwaves. Through this method, they are able to create entire scales of musical notes and to craft impressively complex songs. These songs are used to communicate basic ideas amongst gimbel packs, sounding out expressions of danger, happiness or hunger.

This species is harmless, consuming small insects and berries to survive.
