(Timeline Tuesday #151)
Candlelunks are a sweet, slow moving species from a nearby timeline who have had little trouble adapting to our reality. The creatures could technically be considered invertebrates, although their physical makeup defies common categorization.
Slightly smaller than humans, candlelunks are constructed entirely of a thick, semi-malleable wax. The creatures are vaguely humanoid in appearance, crawling around with the help of their two front arms and their three-fingered hands, although the back half of their body narrows into a long tail that drags along behind them. They are off-white in coloration, but feature brilliant blue eyes. The most notable thing about a candlelunk’s appearance is the tall candlesticks that protrude from their backs, growing steadily over time and sprouting wicks from the tips. When lit, these living candelabras are a beautiful, flickering source of light.
Candlelunks are easy to please. As long as they are well fed, these creatures will enjoy roaming around any dark area and providing light to those who enter. Because of this, they are a favorite pet of many wineries, expensive restaurants, or chocolate milk tasting rooms, all places where candlelunks can roam the grounds and provide peaceful, natural illumination. If a candlelunk is unhealthy it will stop growing candlesticks from its back, so they are often treated very well, consuming the finest foods and diligently protected from harm.
