(Timeline Tuesday #149)
Sense collectors are a species of gentle observer from a distant timeline. Their bodies are small and squat, about two feet tall and three feet long, although their enormous appendages give the creatures a sense of being much larger. This species is covered in leathery, light blue skin and has two arms positioned at the front of their form, each equipped with three slender fingers. They move about on twenty four pointed legs that line the bottom of their bodies and help the creatures skuttle along. At the center of their body is a huge single eye, while their mouth is so small it is difficult to see without close inspection.
The most notable feature of a sense collector are the three massive tentacles that protrude from their back. These long limbs are quite powerful, strong enough for the sense collector to snake them through the air with great dexterity. The end of each tentacle sports a different, distinct organ. First is a large finger, slightly curled and hosting a nail the requires constant trimming. Second is a giant ear. Third is a large nose.
These distinct appendages help the sense collector on its central mission: a journey to collect sensations.
The senses of interest to a sense collector are touch, sound, and smell. They are drawn to places across the infinite timelines where one of these features is especially prominent, arriving through a time tear and then taking this new reality in with as much gusto as possible. It is believed these creatures are capable of some mysterious biological recording of each sensation, although this hypnosis has not been confirmed. This theory (which provides the creature’s name) is likely due to the fact that after these extreme sensations have been witnessed, the sense collector immediately leaves our timeline, producing a small tear in reality and then slipping away as though hurrying to make a delivery.
